FAQs

Below you will find answers to some of my most frequently asked questions. If you have a question that isn’t covered below, please contact me and I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

I need a designer on a regular basis - can you help?

Absolutely! I love working with clients long term. Whether you need someone once a year to do your annual report, or to do your in-house magazine every 3 months, or every 6 months for your EOFY and Christmas fundraising campaigns, or just on an as-needed basis as projects come up or as your in-house team needs assistance, I’m happy to help as needed.

What's your design style?

I can work with a variety of styles. I have my own unique style, but I’m also great with adapting established brand identities. if you have a style guide, I can follow it to the letter, regardless of the style. I describe my own creative style as clean, minimalist, and coastal. I love to draw inspiration from the ocean and work with blues and neutral colour palettes.

How does the design process work?

I have an outline of the design process on my about page.

How long does the design process take?

Each project is different. Some projects take just a couple of hours, while other projects can take months. If you have a deadline in mind please let me know at the beginning of the process and I will let you know if it is achievable. When we start working together I will provide you with a project timeline.

What if I don't like what you design?

I’m very particular about the work that I do, and I will refer you to another designer if I feel that I’m not the best fit for your project. Graphic designers are not one-size-fits-all, so I’m very intentional about only taking on projects that fit my skill set. I always work to my highest standards within the confines of the timeline, brief and budget provided. Sometimes it can take some revisions, but I’m happy to listen to your feedback and make any changes that you request. If at any stage you would like to stop working together, you can, and you will only need to pay for the work that has been completed up to that point.

How much say do I have in the creative process?

You have complete say in all creative decisions. I respect that you have a unique vision for your project and I want to help bring it to life. I will provide guidance and give my professional advice based on my extensive knowledge of design theory, but you always have final say. I ask that you be honest with me at all points in the design process.

Do you have formal design training?

Yes, absolutely! I studied the Diploma of Graphic Design at the Southbank Institute of Technology and I have 11 years of industry experience including working at agencies and as an in-house designer. I also undertake independent study to keep up to date with the latest changes in the industry.

What kind of design work do you do?

I’m experienced across a range of design including print, digital, web, and packaging, as well as print set-up and management. My main focus is currently on editorial and print design (eg. magazines, reports, brochures, and other publications) as well as packaging design.

Where are you located?

I’m based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia but as I work remotely I can work with clients Australia-wide.

What is your hourly rate?

I quote by project rather than per hour, as an hourly rate is not an accurate way of gauging a designer’s cost because something that takes me an hour could take another designer more than twice as long. Please contact me for an obligation-free quote.

Why should I choose you over an agency?

Because you get to work directly with your designer, you don’t have to worry about being lost in a sea of clients, you get better value for money because my pricing doesn’t need to cover studio rent or support staff, and you can be assured that the projects in my portfolio have been completed by myself, not someone that worked at the agency 5 years ago!

Can I see some examples of your work?

You sure can! You can view examples of my work on my portfolio page.

Do you outsource to offshore designers?

No! Absolutely not! I’m a one-woman show and I take great pride in doing all design work myself.

Can you take care of my printing?

Definitely! I actually prefer to manage printing because many things can go wrong during the printing process and I want to ensure that the final product looks its best. I have accounts with a number of trade printers (essentially the wholesalers of the printing industry) so I can get you a great deal on printing. Alternatively, if you’d prefer to manage your own printing, I can provide print-ready PDFs in any format required.

Can we chat?

Absolutely! I’d love to chat with you! If you love my portfolio, you’re happy with my pricing, and you’re interested in working with me, please complete the form below or contact me by email and we can schedule a time to chat. This can be done by either phone or Zoom, and it’s a great way for us to get to know each other and gauge whether I’m a good fit for your project. However, my time is very important to me so please only book a chat if you are genuinely interested in working with me.

Likewise, if you’d prefer not to chat – you don’t have to! I’m really good at working remotely and communicating by email. In fact, I’ve got some clients that I’ve been working with for over 5 years that I’ve never spoken to once!
